Quite a bit has happened over the past couple of months. I
apologize for not posting here sooner.
Let's see, the first thing is that I am now able to offer
greeting cards through
GreetingCardUniverse.com. I am very excited about this
opportunity to have others know about my art through greeting
cards. You can
read more about the cards here.
I have been interviewed by Elizabeth Edwards for
1stAngel & Friends, Interview with the Artists. The interview should be up
in the next few days, I think possibly as early as Saturday. I am
now getting a little exposure in the UK!
I did finish the preliminary sketch of “Joy” and this weekend
will be working on adding texture to the canvas with a
modeling paste and gesso combination. (I'm really into
textured canvases for this series.) This usually takes a couple
of coats of the modeling paste-gesso mixture, then several coats
of gesso on top of that. Once everything is dry (usually 24-48
hours), I then will start with tinting the canvas and
transferring the sketch to the canvas through a grid system.
Once that is done, it is painting time! I am hoping the painting
will be done by the end of April. I can’t wait to show you the
finished piece!
In my e-zine I introduced everyone to Johannes Wessmark. His
photorealism is amazing. He is a self-taught painter, working
mainly in watercolor and pencil. Color pencil is his favorite
medium.
You may want to check out more of his work here.
You can become a Friend of the Studio by completing the form on
the right. There are some benefits to being a Friend of the
Studio, such as special discounts on prints.
Okay, off to create!

Well, I had a tough end of 2007 and beginning of 2008 with my
car engine blowing up, a back tooth breaking in half, losing a
client in my other business, all while having to deal with my
father becoming critically ill and having to make the final
decision of taking him off life support. It is a hard
thing standing by a parent's bedside, holding the hand as he or
she passes on. I had to do the same thing for my mother in
2003.
Now, I am coming out on the other side and ready to get back
into the swing of things. Ready to put my energy and emotions
back into my art.
I have finally put the finishing touches on this website,
though not perfect (I'm a bit of a perfectionist), it is time to
move on to creatively expressing myself. (Okay, I am going
to do my taxes first, then get back to creatively expressing
myself.)
The drawing pad is out and ready for sketching my next
painting for my
Emotions Series. This one will be called
"Joy." I definitely need to work on something that is
uplifting.
